This cardioid capsule is designed for discussion from a short distance, ie directly in front of the speaker's mouth.
Their depth drop is compensated by the proximity (proximity effect). It therefore has a constant frequency response for the speaker – except for the treble boost – while it has a frequency response with a low-frequency drop for background noise coming from a greater distance. As a result, background noise is transmitted weaker than that of the speaker.
