The CCM 4V was developed to meet the need for a side-talk cardioid microphone. In addition to its use in the concert hall, this capsule type is also particularly suitable for speaker studios, as the slight treble boost at 10kHz contributes to better speech intelligibility. Due to the acoustically very transparent housing, a particularly balanced directivity pattern is achieved even at higher frequencies: There is less high-frequency emphasis of sound incident from the side – as is typical with small cardioids for frontal sound incidence – with this type of microphone. Due to its frequency response, it sounds a bit brighter overall than the CCM 4.
