Schoeps - CCM 21 COMPACT MICROPHONE

Features :
  • Wide cardioid with low frequency dependence of directivity
  • pleasant sound, often described as “warm”.
  • preferred use: as a backup and main stereo microphone
The microphones of this type are between omnidirectional and cardioid in terms of their directivity. The idea behind their development is to combine the advantages of the kidney with those of the bullet. The bass reproduction of the CCM 21 is therefore better than that of cardioids, and the proximity effect is less pronounced.

Frequency Response
In contrast to omnis, which have an increasing directivity at high frequencies, and in contrast to small cardioids, which tend to emphasize the highs when the sound incidence is oblique, the polar diagram and thus the directivity of the CCM 21 is only slightly dependent on the frequency. Sound sources radiating in from the side and reflected sound are thus transmitted with little discolouration. Therefore, this type of microphone is uncritical with regard to the angle of incidence of the sound.
