As can be seen from the frequency curve, this type of microphone has a constant frequency response for sound coming from the front. This results in a very lifelike sound for recordings within the reverberation radius, i.e. where the direct sound (frontal incidence) predominates over the diffuse sound (reflected sound with incidence from all directions).
